Eco Rebates

& Incentives

News and Previews || unknown

Savvy managers and directors should always be on the lookout for opportunities to ‘go green’. New condo constructions are often built to LEED® standards or incorporate eco-advantages such as energy efficient windows, green roofs, solar panels, low voltaic paints and LED lighting. But across the province there are plenty of older stock condos where energy-efficient upgrades and retrofits can be implemented and advantages can be taken from the many eco rebates and incentives that are available.

The Province of Ontario implemented its five-year Climate Change Action Plan aimed at fighting climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

Municipal governments have set their own action plans and targets as well as programs that offer incentives to help residents and businesses contribute to a lower-carbon footprint. The City of Toronto, for example, has several programs for condo corporations to tap into. Do your research. The right green project can mean money in your corporation’s account.

ENERGY STAR is the mark of high-efficiency products in Canada. The familiar symbol makes it easy to identify the best energy performers on the market.

ENERGY STAR certified products meet strict technical specifications for energy performance—tested and certified.

They save energy without compromising performance in any way. Typically, an ENERGY STAR certified product is in the top 15 to 30 percent of its class for energy performance. Saving energy saves you money and reduces your impact on the environment.

ENERGY STAR Most Efficient is an annual designation awarded to the best of the best: it identifies models that rank at the very top of ENERGY STAR certified models in select product categories in the current calendar year. See the list of products designated ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2017.
