From the Executive Director

Always Looking Forward

Message from the Executive Director || Amanda Curtis

Despite flooding and the myriad of other challenges facing professionals in the condominium industry, I hope the summer included some well-deserved relaxation.

Since the last issue of CM Magazine, new ACMO education manuals required for condominium manager licences have been introduced, and executive members together with staff have maintained open communication with the CMRAO.

We are particularly excited to announce that ACMO has been retained by the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario to develop a Continuing Education program and test which must be completed by condominium managers before renewing their licence on July 1, 2019. The program, which addresses changes to the Condominium Act, 1998 and the introduction of the Condominium Management Services Act, 2015, will comprise of three educational webinars and a comprehensive test. Managers holding ACMO’s Registered Condominium Manager (RCM) designation will benefit from discounted program registration fees. The program is set to launch soon – watch for additional details as they come available.

The summer months also included finalization of plans for the 22nd Annual Condominium Conference hosted by ACMO and CCI Toronto & Area Chapter. Scheduled to be held on November 16th & 17th at the Toronto Congress Centre, this conference is again supported by our Conference Partner Fine & Deo, as well as many other generous sponsors and exhibitors. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of early bird registration fees for the two-day comprehensive program and sold out trade show. A chance to win a $2000 trip voucher for those who register by October 9th and special rates are available for members who opt to take advantage of early registration incentives. We refer you to the detailed program included with this magazine or visit www.condoconference.ca. See you there!

ACMO’s first annual salary survey of condominium managers will be circulated in the fall, and we trust you will participate in this new service. A similar survey is being circulated to corporate members.

As we head into another program year, we again acknowledge the many volunteers who give so generously of their time and expertise. RCMs, ACMO2000 firms, Associates, members of the legal, accounting and engineering professions and leaders in the many trades that service condominium corporations, thank you again for giving back to this industry.
